Leadership and life lessons from Bruce Lee’s lost Interview
Everyone knows Bruce Lee as Mixed Martial Arts Hollywood Superstar, he was also a deep thinker and philosopher.
Bruce Lee was featured in a English speaking television interview on the 9 December 1971 edition of “The Pierre Berton Show”. It was presumed lost until its discovery in 1994.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the interview, Bruce Lee was a master in communicating his thoughts and emotions through words and his martial art.
The philosophy of the water from the interview will stay with me for a long time.
“Be Water, My Friend. Empty your mind.
Be formless, shapeless, like water.
You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle.
You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
Running water never goes stale”
Water is always moving, flowing adapting to the surrounding, water can freeze to bide time and melt back into liquid form at the right moment.
Water is softest substance in the world and yet it can cut through hardest of rocks to form deep valleys. Water is also insubstantial – you cannot grasp or hold it.
Nature is the best teacher.
Success and harmony in life can be achieved by imitating nature.
We can thrive in any situation in work and life by constantly adapting to the situation.
We all have to keep moving forward by learning and growing every day.
Remember, running water never goes stale.
Take it easy until next time.
